are plantains safe during pregnancy?

I have been looking for some studies giving an answer to this question and I can't seem to find what I am looking for.

So mommas- did you crave (and ate) plantains in your previous pregnancies?

Supposedly there is something in their peel, some toxins. I can't really find a good unbiased study on it. My husband cooked them last night and they were sooo good... I literally had tears in my eyes while eating them. That's all I want to it now...

If plantains are dangerous, then why are we eating bananas still?! I don't see a reason why plantains are dangerous, I mean it's not like your gnawing on the peel! LOL
